fifteen [action] | early Saturday morning
[Martel had been kidnapped by the Malnosso droids about a week ago and no matter how many times she's taken from him, Mithos can't get used to it. There's the same plummeting feeling in his stomach, the same moment of weak knees nearly buckling. The aching that won't go away. And at night, indelible memories scrape through his head with a vengeance. Crumpling to the ground with blood blooming on her clothes and color draining from her face-- He startles awake long before the sun rises, feeling small in the empty house. Still and silent, he sits in the dark. He can think of one person who is undoubtedly awake at this hour too, and after a long moment of debate he decides to reach for his journal and start writing.]

[WRITTEN - private to Sayo | 100%]
I had a Are you awake? [He already knows the answer, but he doesn't know where else to begin.]
[ACTION]
[He falls back into uneasy sleep eventually, and when he wakes up again he has errands to busy himself with. Food is running low...and he wants to check on something on the flower shop too. Hoping to avoid people as much as possible, he ventures out early in the morning with a canvas bag for groceries slung over his shoulder. Maybe he shouldn't be living by himself, but in the months since his death penalty was first placed on him he's become more skillful with his crutches. There is something to be said for stubbornness too. Above all else, he has to convince himself that his sister will be returned soon... He moves through the village as briskly as he can, eyes vigilant and senses finely tuned - the sooner he can return, the better.]

[Later in the morning he opens his journal again, because there's someone who he needs to see more than anyone else in the cloying absence of his sister...]
[VOICE - private to Kaori | 100%]
You're not busy today...are you?

[VOICE - private to Kaori | 100%]
You're not busy today...are you?
[action]
Act like a jerk. Because he doesn't want any common threads tying him and this human together.]
If I did see her, what makes you think I would tell you anything about it?
[action]
Well, most anyone but Mithos.]
You just said you have not, though, so such a question is irrelevant.
[action]
I have been known to lie before. [Really, Frey...you have no idea just how hilarious this is. Everything he breathed for after his sister's death was built from lies. The world ran on lies for four thousand years because of him.]
[action]
As it is?
He's drawing his weapon.] If you had done anything to her, I would have every right in both this world and mine to beat her location out of you.
[action]
...That would be a waste of my time and yours, because I've never once seen your pathetic companion.
[action]
That reaction did nothing for his attempt to keep her importance to him hidden. But Mithos didn't know who she was, and wouldn't know. He didn't know his sister from back home was here, and wouldn't know, if he had anything to say for it.]
Good. If you plan to play childish jokes, do it when it is more appropriate.
[action]
It wasn't a 'childish joke'. [he says those last two words with no small amount of abhorrence.] I was merely stating that it is foolish to trust everyone's word so readily.
[action]
[action]
[action]
You play a dangerous game by making such statements. Many people here have every reason to actually follow through with my threat when it comes to people important to them, especially when it comes to someone who has shown open hostility to others before, especially when it is a child's safety at risk. There are lines one does not cross.
I would think that would speak for your intelligence more. [His tone is painfully formal. There was little to no emotion in it, a stark contrast to how he usually spoke.]
[action]
...How arrogant. Don't think that you can tell me what to do. [...although, really, in his condition he should be backing the hell down. But he's pissed off and frustrated and worried and running on too little fuel.]
[action]
But do not think I will ever take such jokes lightly. [And Freyjadour is exhausted, irritated, worried, and in a pit of self loathing for his lack of ability to protect those he cares for. Not to mention he is still unsure of how to handle Mithos, after what Kaori had told him.]
[action]
You assume that everyone should care about everyone else, but the world doesn't work that way. It never has. I only give to the world what it has given to me. [because that's the only option, when he no longer has the means to take from the world everything it took from him.]
[action]
I noticed. ['I only give to the world what it has given to me'..... That seemed an apt description of what he had observed before.] However, slights and threats can insight others to anger, as can a perceived threat. I am sure you would understand, yes?
[action]
It dawns on him that maybe some small part of him knew that Frey wouldn't react like that without reasonable cause. Then...does that mean the same small part of him knew Frey would listen? His stomach twists. No, don't be ridiculous... He can't be held accountable for his actions when Martel is gone but won't leave his mind. There doesn't need to be an explanation beyond the visceral reaction of animosity.]
[action]
I should probably return to my search then, if you are done. There are quite a few people I am keeping an eye out for.
[action]
...Is Kaori one of them? [He tries to keep his voice even, but restraining his emotions isn't exactly his forte. His words are thin with fear. It's not that he believes Freyjadour could really care about her like a sister, but humans do like to keep up pretenses.]
[action]
Frey can hear that fear, and his irritation fades somewhat. At the very least, he knew Mithos cared about her safety, in his own way. Though his definition of caring had fallen under question plenty.]
She is fine. Gold and Silver, however, were taken.
[action]
Their safety is none of my concern.
[action]
[He isn't even going to bother pointing out that bit of rudeness, and turns away.] I will be going now. Take care.
