[After speaking with Yuan, Mithos has found his way back to where he hid the pilfered Cruxis Crystal and keycrest deep in the woods. It has taken a little longer than originally planned to reach this glorious moment, but what is a week compared to the chance to regain semi-immortality, to evolve from this pathetically powerless state into a being of ultimate power once more? He can be in control again. He can be in control, and the people of this world will crumble to him. His own world. He can finally have his own world. And when Martel arrives (and she will return one day - how could she not if her beloved brother-who-never-left-her-side-and-always-protected-her-even-when-the-rest-of-the-world-turned-its-ungrateful-back is here?), it can be their world. A world just for them. Like he dreamed of. Like Martel wanted.

He kneels down in the snow at the base of a tree, subtly marked for his own differentiation, and searches around its thick roots for the hole which should contain a small leather pouch--]

[He could have sworn he had placed it right here. Seemingly frozen in place, he stares at the spot in shock. It isn’t long before he’s climbing to his feet and the embers of fury are building in his eyes. Someone is going to pay for this. Someone destroyed his plans, his dreams, his everything, and they are going to suffer for that mistake. Starting with the tree. The ground beneath it receives a swift Stalagmite.

So if anyone happens to be in the woods (or in the general vicinity of House 52 as he returns to the village) this morning, you may very well encounter this bundle of sunshine stalking along. Very, very ready to lash out.]

[Now kicking at Crona with his free foot. He doesn't need it to keep his balance anymore, seeing as...that failed anyway.]

Shut up. Do not speak to me like that.

[See, now that's just cheating. He's out of free hands! And there's not much Crona can actually do at this point that doesn't involve some serious pain for Mithos.

But sadly, he is starting to care less about that since he is about on the same bully level as Ragnarok at this point. So he just takes those kicks, and quickly twists Mithos' wrist, and ankle in the most uncomfortable of positions.]

Then stop beating me up!

[He winces in pain, but quickly tries to hide it. He refuses to let Crona have the satisfaction. Well, you got your wish: you are no longer being kicked.]

Then stop touching me! Let go of me, immediately. [Such prolonged contact with a human is making his stomach twist.]

[Good. That's all he wanted, really. He could care less at the moment about seeing him in pain, because if anyone from the academy were to see just this, he could get into a lot of trouble.]

Only if you won't attack me again...

[Glare. He isn't in the habit of negotiating with humans. But at the same time he just wants to get away from this sickening, infuriating boy.]

Fine. [That word is spat out as if it were a rotten bite of food.] I'm sick of looking at you anyway. [Also he would be in over his head if he continued to attack...but he loathes to admit this even to himself.]

[That's not exactly what he wanted to hear, but he will simply let go. He doesn't move anymore than that though, even though he would love to just make a run for it. He just watches...]

[Mithos quickly pulls his limbs away from Crona and stands, brushing snow from himself. He aims a glare down at Crona the entire time.]

As if someone like you could even fathom what that Crystal is worth anyway. [He's just mad that he wasted time on this loser.]

[He curtly turns on his heel and stalks back in the direction of the village, thoroughly pissed off at...well...everything in general.]

[Crona knows well enough to just shut up by now, and all he does is sit there 'till he's gone. Have fun being pissed off at everything Mithos. He's just glad he didn't kill you.]

It's better for it to be soothing than overwhelming. You've only just arrived here recently, correct?

I believe, last I checked, I've been around for about a month!

New people arrive every few months now or so, so it seems that you were part of the most recent cycle. But time just has a habit of slipping by once you've been here for a few months.

I imagine it must! And every few months...? You must all have your hands full, trying to help those who haven't a clue about how this world works...

[It's that reason she's grateful to Ginko, Sanji, and all of the people who've clarified things and spoken to her. They didn't have to help, and yet they were so kind...]

It actually isn't too bad, now that we have the welcome center established, as well as the guide. If everyone does their part to keep people informed, coming to terms with the situation will hopefully be an easier ride.

It sounds like you've all had a lot of time to think through how to handle everything.

[Because honestly, to create a system in a place like this seems difficult, to Sayo. But then again, that's Sayo.]

It took us some time to get it situated, but everyone here is usually adaptable enough, once the initial disbelief has passed.

I'm always very impressed with how well people have been handling things here. They all seem so strong and resilient... In fact, there are so many warriors and fighters, I can't keep track!

Yes, there are certainly many of them... those who have had a significant impact in their worlds, and others who may share connections to them. We seem to have more of a variety lately.

Oh my, and here they go bringing a simple mother like me into the fix. I'm afraid I don't fit in very well, with all the dangers about.

Not everything's about danger, but perhaps there was something about you that stood out enough for you to be brought here. Going by their logic, anyway. But you're right; it's especially unfair if you're going to be attacked with no means of defending yourself.

Mmm... Perhaps I should try and find out a way to defend myself...

But I'm just no good at hurting anyone. I can barely stand up to them in words, let alone with violence, even if it is for my safety...

If anything, there are a lot of people who are willing to teach self-defense. Or maybe even picking up some of the spirit's magic would at least give you something to work with... but all of that would likely take some time, if you aren't used to it.

Yes, I think you're right... Though I'm an awful learner.

But still—I think I can at least learn one or two little things, just for the sake of being prepared!

As long as you've tried something, I think you'll be all right. The best you can do is try to avoid trouble if you can.
