Betrayal doesn't have to mean stabbing the other person in the back - it can take on far more subtle forms. Turning one's back is enough. Yuan shares the burden of guilt with Kratos for that. Turning away and not bothering to take the time to really look at what was going on, simply letting him flounder in his despair and sink like a stone.
