[At first, all that can be heard is indistinguishable muttering. It seems strangely distant. The words become increasingly clear as their source becomes apparently nearer to the journal. They sound as though they are being squeezed through tightly clenched teeth. It is a voice that may be chillingly familiar to some residents...]

It's not fair. It's not fair. [This is repeated a few times, stringing closer and closer together each repetition.]

Martel... I abandon- [He can't bring himself to say it. It's too disgusting. A moment of only heavy breathing. The anger is practically palpable, and...there is the strain of something else too. Despair?] I didn't want to... I didn't choose to!

It isn't fair and if she is that important to you, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you now. But there is always the chance that she might appear here again someday. Hope is not lost.

[And wow he hopes this calms the guy down or Souji will be stepping awaaaay from the poor nutter.]

No, you couldn't possibly imagine what it's like, what it's been like for both of us.

[That last part...He did say that people are brought here from different times and places. Maybe...could it be possible....? There is a pause, and then he speaks again, quietly.] The world is never fair... Why should I expect anything different from here?

Because losing hope is the one thing I think Martel-san would be sad about.

[Ooooh snap, that gets him.]

Of course.... [Talking to himself again, don't mind. Pay no heed to that unsettling, unhinged laugh either.] Haha, of course! Martel would never give up on me...if she could return to me, she would find a way...!

[He has no idea if what he said was good or bad. But this guy? Creeeeeper alert.]

Of course she would. Martel would never leave my side willingly, and she knows I would never abandon her! [Another laugh. And not one of those warm fuzzy laughs either.] She knows I didn't choose to come to this forsaken world!

[Staying quiet now because yeah, if Martel ever comes back, Okita is so warning her that crazy boy is obsessed with her.]

[He...doesn't really care that you've stopped talking. Continues talking to himself, with the voice of someone who has been shown enlightenment. But definitely tinged with crazy.]

I never abandoned her...Martel knows. Martel knows and she will return here just for me.
