six [action/voice]

[A peaceful melody played on a panpipe can be heard through the journal, or by anyone who happens to be passing by House 52 this afternoon. Veteran residents may recognize this particular tune as one that Martel played on occassion during her stay in Luceti, but to Mithos it is simply the song his sister would play to comfort him all those many, many years ago. Even now, it remains a source of comfort, one of the ways in which he can remember Martel. He can feel her presence beside him as he sits beneath a tree at the edge of the woods behind the house. Outside, despite the chill. Martel's music was never meant to be contained by walls, just as her soul and his memories of her were never meant to be contained by death.

Recieving his sister's panpipe (yes, the very same one, even though it had been broken when last seen) has been the first good thing to happen in quite some time. It is like a reminder not to give up -- Martel still needs him.

Mithos is entirely unaware that the journal is recording him, thus replies to any voice responses (or written responses) will occur last chronologically. Just for clarification.]

[Well, Shiki might be stupid in some cases but this is something totally different. Sorry, Mithos, forgive her while she pauses to think this over.]

Elves? [She's totally thinking like Christmas elves, man.] Are elves that common where you're from?

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2010-12-29 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[So she really doesn't know.]

The elves were among the first inhabitants of the world. [Not really "common", since they practically never reside outside of the Elven village of Heimdall. The same village he and his sister were forced out of during the Kharlan war.] Elves are no different from humans -- refusing to accept half-elves, refusing to take responsibility for the cursed lives they themselves created.

[Must be a different world, she figures, since she's pretty sure she'd know about elves in Shibuya.]

Why do people refuse to accept half-elves though? How is it a cursed life?

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2010-12-29 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Because people hate those who are different. They always have and always will. To be a half-elf is to be hated, opressed, discriminated against. Do you think anyone would choose that? [That's a whole lot of bitterness from one who seems so young.]

No, probably not, but isn't that sort of unfair to lump everyone into the same category?

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Have some laughter. The bitter, slightly unhinged kind.] Who was unfair to whom first?

I wouldn't know. We don't have elves.

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
[A loud tch!] Do you think it's fair that humans and elves alike reject us, when it's their fault we even exist? We didn't ask to be born. We're despised for something we have no control over. Is that fair?

Probably not...but are you judged the same way here?

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2011-01-02 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't been stupid enough to give anyone the chance. [That isn't entirely true. He hasn't given anyone a single chance to earn his trust, but he has spoken with people. And...not a single person has shown the same prejudices that are so rampant in his own world. Those scars are cut far too deeply into his heart, though, to realize that this world does not bear the same hostilities.]

[personal profile] so_shik 2011-01-03 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know which would be stupider in this case, giving people the chance, or being afraid to bother. [She's aware that's probably not the best thing to say to him, but Mithos is a curious case to her suddenly. This is just what Shiki does sometimes, don't mind her tendency to be pushy.]

1/2

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Is it that transparent, the fear he tries so hard to deny? And how arrogant, passing such judgment without knowing hardly anything about him. Calling him afraid for not being able to trust in anyone, when no one has given any reason to be trusted. Blaming him for not being able to stand strong in the face of hatred and betrayal.]

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2011-01-04 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
...You humans are so arrogant to believe you know everything. What could you possibly understand?
so_shik: (Ummm)

[personal profile] so_shik 2011-01-04 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
...probably a lot more than you'd think. But I guess it doesn't matter to you, does it?

[identity profile] imatreenow.livejournal.com 2011-01-05 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
[She at least has that right: he doesn't care.

Mithos has no desire to talk with this person anymore. He's sick of her, sick of everyone who looks down on him. So without saying anything further, he snaps the journal shut.]
