[The news of his sister’s engagement came as unexpected to Mithos, even though it probably shouldn’t have. Raine has been with Jack since before he had even been born; he’s known the man his entire life. He’s always accepted it as the norm, and despite the over-protectiveness he harbors for his one and only sister, he entrusts her wellness to the strange, strange man. But getting married is always a big deal, isn’t it? The supposedly unbreakable bonds of marriage have always been part of an odd, grey area in their family, marred by the conspicuous absence of a father Mithos never knew. But whom Raine had known. He just wants to make sure his family is in good hands.]

Jack,

I trust you to take good care of Raine. She’s my only sister, and she deserves to have all the happiness in the world. You’ve done fairly well these past nearly fifteen years that I’ve watched, and even before then, but that doesn’t mean you can start slacking off anytime soon.

[A short while after relaying this message, he can be found all about the village plaza. The mission: find something that suitably says “Congratulations, beloved sister of mine, you’re getting married!”, and within the budget of his slim allowance. There is no tradition that dictates such a thing, but he feels it’s necessary anyway. Feel free to run into him at any point on his trip, which includes the flower shop, the clothing store, and the general item shop, as well as on the way from and back to Community Housing 2. Of course, he’ll stop and rest by the fountain at some point too.]

[Dhaos still likes his solitude, but apparently he spends it outside instead of inside, despite the fact that people are more likely to come and interrupt it. And so, Mithos will probably find his brother-in-law on his way to the square from CH3, which is conveniently down the road from CH2.

Dhaos does recognize his friend's little brother, and his head turns in the kid's direction as he sees Mithos approaching.]

[He sees you there, best friend of somewhat estranged brother, but he isn't sure what etiquette this situation calls for. After all, the way he sees it, Dhaos and his sister are a significant factor in Yuan's irresponsibility toward Mom.

He can't just ignore him, though, and offers a somewhat stiff greeting.]

[Dhaos is aware, but he's not sure it's his place to tell Yuan to be more responsible. A little hypocritical, actually, given his attitude towards Yuan and Martel's marriage...

[You may note that your mother isn't at the door right away when you first come back; that is simply because she is freaking out—by freaking out, I mean perched on top of the counter hunched in a terrified little ball with a duster in hand.

She notes Mithos with some anxiety in her face.]

[He quickly (but gently!) sets his purchase down and hurries over to rescue his poor mother. When he sees what her assailant is...well, it's to be expected. He briefly sighs a smile and proceeds to work at calming her. Placing one hand on her upper arm, he rubs soothingly.]

Mom, it's all right; it's just a frog. It won't hurt you.

[Even more later, at home! Since... Raine probably was running errands for most of the day. She still needs that wedding dress, but she'll do that tomorrow.

Still, it will be one of the last few days to spend with her family at the apartment, with her items already moved and- it's just bizarre. The building she grew up in, and then moving so far away-

She's a in a reflective mood, lost in her thoughts, thinking about life's changes and the future. Mithos may find her by a window in her now empty room.]

[He lightly knocks on the already-ajar door, slowly pushing it open as he steps into her room.]

...Hey, sis.

[It's weird. For his entire life, she's lived right here in the room next to his, and now...she's leaving. Of course she'll still be around, living in the same village and all, but it's a big change for him to adjust to. He's always thought of himself as his sister's protector, but he would be lying if he didn't acknowledge that he was dependent on her in return.]

[She'd still have to come back to the village proper for work. Thankfully they did have Noishe, willing to provide transport.

The sound of her brother's voice shakes her momentarily out of those thoughts, as she shakes her head a little and turns away from the glass.]

[While Mithos is dithering over possibilities at the flower shop, a terrible figure creeps up (or rather, down) behind him. Not making a sound is a lot easier when one doesn't have to keep their feet on the ground, as Arche is demonstrating quite gleefully.

She leans in as close as she can get without tipping off his senses, something she's gotten very good at in the years they've known each other, and whispers.]

[OH SWEET GREAT ONE ON A CRACKER, WHAT THE- He nearly jumps up into the air. Clutching at his chest (and the now rapidly beating heart it contains) with one hand, he whirls around to face his assailant.

He shouldn't have been so surprised.]

[At any point in time during his wanderings, Mithos may spot Yuan striding through the village himself. Unlike his brother, who seems to have accepted Jack as his in-law for the most part, Yuan is very unsure how he feels about this. He doesn't know Jack personally, but from what he's seen so far, he really isn't impressed. He and Raine have kids together, yes, but the fact that they didn't get married before having kids, instead of long after, isn't helping.

There's just nothing Yuan can do, because not only is he unable to form proper judgment until he gets to know more about Jack, he gave up the right to interfere with his family when he started running from his responsibilities.

So now he's just taking a walk to try and clear his head. He hasn't noticed Mithos yet, so what will the boy do?]

[Mithos is on his way back home when he catches sight of his older brother. He slows to a pause, caught between simply walking past to hurry back to mom and going over to greet Yuan. It isn't often that he sees him - he'd thought that just earlier today, when he'd run into the best friend of his brother.

It's complicated. Yuan's unimpressive lack of presence in the family is a definite sore spot for him. He's been coming and going (and mostly going) since their father left, dating back to before Mithos can even remember. He had ducked out of the family at a time when Mom and Raine needed him most, and Mithos had been too young to take care of them back then.

Mithos still doesn't understand why. That's where it gets complicated. Despite his brother's flakiness, he's still, well, his brother. Maybe they aren't that close, but there's a handful of good memories scattered through his childhood. He wants to be able to look up to Yuan. He has Link, and even Shuri, but a teacher and a student council president aren't the same thing as a brother.

In the end, he decides to try and catch up. Stop being so tall and walking so quickly, Yuan.]

[Mithos isn't the only one out shopping today-- Emil's family has been busy preparing for the festival, and who better to serve as an errand boy than Emil? Unfortunately the bags in his arms are piled so high that he can't really see where he's going...]

He hadn't seen the other boy coming, so focused on browsing through a display at the item shop, and he stumbles a bit to the side.]
